ARTIST STATEMENT:

Feeling Color

I think of my technique as an artist as a Modernist using the old world way of painting in layers. My desire is to provide a way for my viewers' to have a personal experience with the pigment and blends I create with my color fields and abstract design. I came upon the Italian word Sensazione, which means "feeling color." I was unable to find the words in the English language to accurately describe my personal experience with feeling color. I hope my audience will come to my paintings to see them for what they are - colorful expressions of inner feelings. Feeling color has challenged me to reflect and trust my own emotions and feelings while working on my paintings. I hope those who view my paintings will allow themselves the same freedom when looking at my work. I wanted to create a visceral experience that evokes connection and perhaps there's no need to find the words...
